Well, my three adjectives that describe kinda sum it up. Even though they're all not one word. But I don't think people are usually the essence of an adjective, there's usually a "but" involved. Like me, I'm "semi-nerdy" because I play video games and read comics sometimes but not so much lately, I have phases. And I'm sure if you looked at me you wouldn't necessarily think I'm nerd or maybe you would, I don't know. "Arty".. well, I went to an art school but I'm probably only making art at school (mostly because I hate homework and try to do it at school). My self summary...huh. Well I am a second year graduate student with an internship with Cook County. I feel like I will be a student forever, but thank goodness it is almost over. My family is very important to me as well as my friends. I grew up with a traditional household- my father works full time and my mother was a stay at home wife who took care of the house and children. I know that this traditional value system might be old fashioned, but I believe that the man should protect and be there for the person he loves and will be provided for and loved in return. Those are the basics that I look for. However, being that in today's world that might not always be possible I do believe that a woman should be prepared to provide for herself and be independent- the man would be a wonderful extra. So experiencing old fashioned values and growing up in a new age world, I feel blessed to have a balanced combination of both. However, I do ideally hope to end up in a relationship similar to my parents- I just seemed to be wired to want to take care of someone rather than be the worker. I enjoy painting, reading, and watching good movies. I generally will try any food once and that goes for most everything else in my life. I am a very devoted person and love with a big heart. It brings me much joy to do things for people I care about to make them happy or smile.

To begin, I am particularly honest when it comes to any sort of distance in correspondence i.e. texting, internet. That said, I have a hard time deciding where to begin (a hard time deciding anything).

I don't mean to type about myself in a series of adjectives like the three that the top of these profiles request (I suppose three is fair, but most free standing adjectives require explanation- no explanation, it is going to be marked off). I prefer finding the clues in the background of everything to learn more about someone (not necessarily subconscious and all that psychological stuff, I am by no means trained in that field); it is not the only way I learn about people-- I accept one's words nearly naively. In terms of love, and even nearing a romantic relationship I am not the least bit confident-- having had almost no noteworthy experience (I believe I require quite the amount of patience and understanding). I have a disorganized mind (it is easy for me to confuse and be confused because I do not think near as conventionally as those who built conventions), and as much as I am dying to make this a perfect work with a suitable organization (by my standards) rather than a sort of continuous disorganized list, too much thought about it and I will not fill it out (there is still no promise anyone will even read this before I delete it and take the initiative and preferred method of just talking to people-- I am a reactionist, I usually require someone else's interaction to help me organize my thoughts (because I simply organize them to that person-- I am not some sort of social chameleon though).

I am opting to keep this for a while at least, but what I'd like most right now is for some real and responsive people (unlike the robots and flakes of Craigslist) to engage in some explorative conversation, and eventually have the discomfort of meeting one in person to talk amidst some activity and setting (the longer I type, the greater the chances I find something distasteful and delete the whole bit)-- that whole, "get to know me through talking to me" bit right?

There are many things i dont even know about myself like (why am I filling all this ???), I know this is very short as I feel there is more in a person than filling in a profile, so lets meet and get to know each other.

I grew up in Evanston, IL and went to college in Minnesota. I work as an emergency air freight dispatcher near O'hare airport. I have 2 kids, an 8 year old boy and a 16 year old daughter that mean the world to me! In my spare time I enjoy going out to eat, seeing movies, and biking.

In search of folks to hang out with, maybe a serious relationship somewhere down the road, but friends first. I'm just getting back into this whole dating idea so I don't want to make any hasty decisions. I would certainly like to find Ms. Right though. That being said...

I'm a loving, motivated and generally intelligent person with new ideas every day. I love to learn and plan on going back to school again in January 2010. Hello! After some long deliberation I decided to join this little community because, lets face it, in the tiny social circles we seem to swim in we're never going to have the opportunity to experience the vast majority of other people living outside of our lives and I think that's sorta sad. However, technology has finally changed all that and I figure why not reap the benefits of it?

My interests range from the mundane to the marvelous, from the superficial to the serious, and from the quantitative to the qualitative. Yeah, I knowâ?¦ Its all terribly broad and vague - But then again, I find it hard to sum oneâ??s self up in these little introductions as dynamic and complex as we all are. I guess a good place to start off would be to state an intention in joining one of these sitesâ?¦

Iâ??m ultimately looking for, like most here, a long term relationshipâ?¦ however one built on a solid, naturally developing and evolving, friendship. One built on two minds that happen to connect and see the world through a similar, yet hopefully variably different, scope. I know thatâ??s what this kind of site can bring, hence the choice in coming here.

Those who know me best would probably say that I can be very loving, caring, intensely passionate, and emotionally sensitive but with one foot always firmly grounded in objective observation of any situation. They would also probably tell you that Iâ??m a very fun and social person to be around, that Iâ??m always laughing and (hopefully) a joy to be around. I think the qualities that I would most like to attribute to myself are my curiosity and my love of conversation.

Well, now that we've got that out of the way. I'm a good man, looking for a good woman. She should like children, since I have an 8 year old daughter. She should also be comfortable with the fact that I don't have a license. I haven't had one in some time due to a DUI or two, and I won't have it back for an even longer time. I rarely drink these days, but I do smoke marijuana from time to time. I realize none of these things are usually what a woman looks for in a man. Hey there, so self summary...I think this will work better as a random list of things. So....

Some random things about me:
I'm a very positive person, I always try to find the best in things.
I like to point out random things in the world that I find funny or unusual.
I laugh at inappropriate things, but I try to keep it quiet.
My height intimidates people at times, but once you get to know me, I'm a really kind person.
I expect a lot out of myself, and am confident in my abilities.
I was born and raised in Chicago, but lived for a long time in Wisconsin, so now I'm a bit city and a bit country.
I'm very social, but I can also appreciate relaxing time at home.
I think riding the L all afternoon with a friend, just to people watch and ride around the city would be a lot of fun.
I love to people watch.
I've been to 41 out of the 50 states, and I plan to get to them all.
I played sports competitively for over 15 years, but I don't need to talk about sports every 3rd sentance.
I lived in Berlin Germany for several months a few years ago, and I'm still bit by the travel bug.

I'm a geek. To be specific, I'm a computer geek that branched out into telecomm and management as a career. Fortunately I don't do much of the telecomm anymore, I'm just an occasional consultant for my old employer now and my time is otherwise my own.

In the summer I enjoy gardening, biking, hiking/backpacking, swimming, camping, and just being outdoors. It would be really nice to meet someone to backpack with. In the winter I'm more likely to be doing geeky things with my computers.

Long term I want to live more green but so far I'm driving a hybrid, have upgraded my furnace, and I'm eating less red meat. More will come in time.

I keep running into the question - What does "available" mean in your profile? It means we're happily married and have an open marriage. We're polyamorous both together and separately. We know not everyone agrees with that but it's our choice.

I'm really easy to get along with. I'm much better at listening than I am at talking. I'd rather spend a night with a few good friends than go to a raging party. I'm a sucker for a well done tattoo. I've been fascinated with tattoos and body modifications since I was really young. Music and art are two of the most important things in my life. I devote a lot of my spare time to those two. I can be opinionated, but I'll do my absolute best to keep an open mind. Most importantly, I've learned not to take things too seriously. Added 1/9/09: For the next several years, I don't see myself moving from this general area. My graduate school program is at University Center, Grayslake ... unless we lived in the City and I were able to go full-time there. Or possibly southern Wisconsin ... or you have the means and desire for us to create something I'm not aware of now.
